Abstract:

The leading proposals for quantum computation, either in the circuit or measurement- based models, all require the "hard work" of generating entanglement to be done dynamically. I will discuss the possibility that many-body systems may have a ground state which has suitable entanglement for quantum computation already - so that preparing the system amounts to simply cooling it.
